Hettie S (Pennington) Langdon

Hettie S. Langdon was born February 07, 1943 in Cinda, Kentucky, the 6th child of the late Elhannon and Flora Boggs Pennington.

Hettie was united in marriage to Hale Langdon on March 01, 1962 in Leslie County.  She was a homemaker and was a member of the Hurts Creek Church of Christ.

Hettie enjoyed going to church and working in her flower garden.  Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her adored grandchildren.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She departed this walk of life on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the age of 80.

In addition to her parents, Hettie was preceded in death by her husband: Hale Langdon, brothers: Columbus, Ben, Ray and Junior Pennington.  Four sisters: Marie Howard, Annalee Caldwell, Stella Johnson, and Loretta Lewis.  One grandson: Jimmy Todd Langdon and one great grandson: Kyson Gage Pennington.

Hettie leaves surviving her beloved children, Two daughters: Darla Pennington (Darrell) of Hazard, KY and Phyllis Pennington of Wooton, KY.  One son: Jimmy Langdon (Martha) of Wooton, KY, four brothers: Finley Pennington of Wooton, KY, Elisha Pennington of Hazard, KY, Willie Bill Pennington (Yvonne) of Leatherwood, KY and Alphard Pennington of Yeaddiss, KY.  Four sisters: Mallie Pennington (Owen) of Cutshin, KY, Elizabeth Joseph of Wooton, KY, Alice Turner of Yeaddiss, KY and Recie Pennington of Yeaddiss, KY.  Eleven cherished grandchildren: Travis Pennington, Greg Pennington, Ashley Pennington, Hettie Langdon, Jimmy Darrell Langdon, Columbus Langdon, David Langdon, Shonda Davidson, Nick Williams, and Mary Williams.  Eleven cherished great-grandchildren: Aiden, Emma, Walker, Rayleigh, William, Donna, Cayson, Conner, Gracie, Landon and Isabella.  Three special friends, Joel Lewis of Hyden, KY, Deanna Caldwell of Hyden, KY and Tilda Roberts of Yeaddiss, KY.

A multitude of other family and friends also survive her passing.

The funeral service for Hettie S. Langdon will be held at 1p.m. – Wednesday at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Hyden, KY.

Interment will follow the service at the Dixon Family Cemetery at Red Star, KY with Travis Pennington, Greg Pennington, David Langdon, Nick Williams, Rufus Kelly, and Sherl Kelly serving as pallbearers.  Harold Lewis, Mike Howard, Donnie Causey, Manuel Howard, John R. Joseph, Elhannon Pennington, Dewayne Pennington, David Miniard and Donald Pennington serving as honorary pallbearers.

Hettie’s family will receive friends for visitation at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
