Bessie Carol Collins Mitchell

Bessie Carol Collins Mitchell, 76, of Manchester, KY, passed away Monday, December 25th, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

Bessie Carol was born in Manchester, KY on December 25, 1947, a daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Dorcas Bowling Collins. She was a member of the Holiness Church.

Bessie Carol was a Kentucky Colonel, the secretary for the County Judge from 1978 to 1993, the County Treasurer from 1986 to 1993, and the County Court Clerk from March 1993 to December 1993.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mitchell.

Bessie Carol is survived by her son, Rev. Paul J. Mitchell of Manchester.

She is also survived by her brother and sister: Charles Douglas Collins and wife Sudie of Manchester, and Buena Faye Marcum and husband Reuben of Elk; by 16 nieces and nephews; and by a host of family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bessie Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Don Collins and James David "Roho" Collins.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 31st at Britton Funeral Home, with Dudley Lynch, Roy Lane Woods, Don Hubbard, and Lyle Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at the Rocky Hill Cemetery on Goose Rock.

Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 30th at Britton Funeral Home.
