Cecil “Dood” Pace, a resident of Bledsoe, Kentucky was born December 31, 1934 in Harlan, Kentucky to the union of the late William “Bill” and Sarah Griffith Pace. By occupation, Cecil “Dood” was a truck driver, and had served as a bus driver for the Harlan County School System.
He was a United States Veteran, having served honorably in Army. Cecil “Dood” was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at Essie, Kentucky, as well as a member of the Grays Knob Pentecostal Church at Harlan, Kentucky. He was a faithful servant of God for more than 60 years, serving Him with complete sincerity and commitment. He served the Lord with his talents of singing & playing the guitar. He would travel to many different churches to fellowship with his brothers & sisters in Christ.
Outside of going to church, Cecil “Dood” enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Sarah and her family, as well as taking care of his dog, “Sabel”.
Cecil’s faith became sight on April 01, 2021 at the age of 86.
In addition to his parents, Cecil “Dood” was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Donna Nance, four brothers, Jerry, William E., Otis Kyle and Roy Pace, and one sister, Ethel Freda Childson.
Cecil “Dood” leaves surviving, his beloved granddaughter, Sarah Osborne & husband, Floyd, Jr. of Hyden, KY, a grandson, Justin Nance of Leitchfield, KY, a sister, Joanne Parish Koch of Santa Rosa, CA; three cherished great-grandchildren, Austin Osborne (Chelsey) of Bardstown, KY, Tyler Osborne (Rileigh Stidham) of Hyden, KY and Aidan Chase Nance of Hyden, KY, as well as one cherished great-great grandchild, Natalee Paige Osborne, special grandchildren, Bethany Paige Snyder and Megan Elizabeth Cook and dog, Sabel. Cecil also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. – Tuesday at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at Essie, KY with Patrick Morgan and Ron Oplinger officiating. Interment will follow the services in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery Southeast at Hyden, Kentucky with Military Honors performed by Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter # 133. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. – Monday evening at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
