Charles Edward Collett

 Charles Edward Collett, of Hazard, KY (Formerly of Leslie County) passed away on December 21, 2023, at KY River Medical Center in Jackson, KY. He was born on April 8, 1951, in Leslie County, KY. Charles was 72 years old at the time of his passing.

Throughout his life, Charles had a career in the coal industry before retiring as a coal miner. Additionally, he also worked as a logger.

Charles had a strong sense of patriotism and served honorably in the United States Army. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his service to our country.

Outside of his professional life, Charles had a passion for fishing and hunting. He found solace and joy in these hobbies and often shared stories of his adventures with those around him. His love for nature was evident in every fishing trip or hunting expedition he embarked upon.

Charles was a loving father and cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Graydon (Robert) and Marietta Collett (David), both residing in Hazard, KY. Other survivors include his six cherished grandchildren: Ashley McQueen, Carol Cox, Amy Graydon, Arianna Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Curtis Price. He was also blessed with six cherished great-grandchildren.

In addition to his immediate family members, Charles leaves behind fond memories with countless other relatives and friends. Among them are special friend Alfred Fugate and former wife & friend Glady McClure.

Charles' parents, Reuben and Mary Whitehead Collett preceded him in death along with his son Shelby Wayne Collett. He is also preceded in death by his brother Walter Collett and sisters Eunice Collett, Bessie Barrett, Ophia Collett, and Martha Collett. 

To honor Charles Edward Collett's memory, visitation services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home in Hyden. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 

A funeral service will be held at 1P.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, also at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home. 

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Southeast in Hyden, KY with full military honors by the Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter # 133.
