Clara Wilma (Jones) Chandler

Clara Wilma Chandler, 69 of Thousandsticks, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  Clara was born February 19, 1953 in Leslie County, a daughter of the late Willy and Lucy Osborne Jones.  She was united in marriage to Abner “Red” Chandler on September 05, 1968 in Jonesville, VA.  She spent 25 years away before returning to Kentucky.  By occupation, Clara worked as a factory worker for Saturday Night Limited in Ohio,  and most recently, she worked as a clerk with the Family Dollar Store in Hyden, KY.  She was of the Baptist faith and faithful member of the Hyden Baptist Church.  Clara was an auxiliary member of the Thousandsticks Fire Department.  She enjoyed flowers, cleaning and working.  She was dedicated to her husband and family.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her children, twin sons, Donnie and Danny Chandler; four brothers, Felix Jones, Roy Jones, Kermit Jones and Paul Jones.

Clara Wilma Chandler leaves surviving her loving & devoted husband, Abner “Red” Chandler, Jr. of Thousandsticks, KY; two brothers, Kenneth Ray Jones of Thousandsticks, KY and Sherman Jones (Sally) of Somerset, KY; five sisters, Brenda Jones of Thousandsticks, KY, Bessie Collins & Robert of Hyden, KY, Molly Holland (Homer) of London, KY, Christine Gregory (Jim Bob) of London, KY and Sheila Day (James) of Smilax, KY; sister-in-law, Anna Carol Jones of Thousandsticks, KY; one special nephew, Doug Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. – Saturday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe, Pastor Robert Amundson and Brian Napier officiating.

Interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery at Thousandsticks, KY with nephews serving as pallbearers. Thousandsticks Volunteer Firefighters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family of Clara Wilma Chandler will receive friends at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home from 6p.m. until 9p.m., Friday evening.
