Curtis Derek Melton

Mr. Curtis Derek Melton, born September 8, 1960 in Hazard, Kentucky, the son of the late Irene Melton & Curtis M. Melton, and grandson of the late Rebecca and Felix Melton, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the age of 61. Derek enjoyed going for his morning rides and stopping by Hardee’s for his sausage and biscuits.  He had a love for umbrellas. If you stopped by to visit and it was raining, he would go out and take you for a walk.  He loved watching Mary Poppins because she always had an umbrella.  Derek enjoyed watching Batman, Superman, Green Acres, Hee Haw, Wrestling and Golf. Derek always had a smile on his face.  He was a very special person and loved by ALL of his Family.

Derek leaves the following surviving relatives, his father, Curtis M. Melton, sisters Mildred Spencer (William) and Donna Kaye Melton.  Nieces, Tiffany Kilburn (Eric), Amanda Collett (Josh) and Danielle Spencer.  Great Nieces and Nephews, Kyleigh Napier, Sophia Irene Collett, Riley Collett, Jayden Collett, Easton Kilburn and Milliana Collett of Wooton, Kentucky and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Family and friends survive.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his residence, 131 Meltonville Lane - Wooton, Kentucky at 1 pm with Josh Collett officiating & reading of the obituary by William Spencer.  Burial will follow in the Meltonville Family Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 12 noon until the service hour at 1 pm.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  William Spencer, Josh Collett, Eric Kilburn, Johnny Melton, Jonathan Griffith, Preston Napier, Rick Melton and Dalton Brown.  Honorary Pallbearers will be his father, Curtis M. Melton, and Ricky Melton.
