Dakota Wayne Bowling was born August 19, 1994 in Leslie County, the son of Hubert Wayne Bowling and Misty Feltner.  Dakota spent his former years and much of his life in Leslie County and attended the Leslie County High School.  He was currently residing in Science Hill, KY at the time of his death.  

Dakota was a free spirit, he could be described as polite, loving and always happy.  He had a zest for life and an undying love for his family, he was proud to be a Bowling.  He enjoyed spending time with them, as well as his friends.

Dakota worked for a long time on the Oil Rigs in Texas.  He was currently in the process of returning to Texas to his former job.  He had been working as a lineman in Somerset, KY, installing fiber internet.  He was passionate about his work, and was excited to return to Texas.

Being an avid outdoorsman, Dakota found joy in fishing, riding bikes, and cave crawling; he was always ready for an exciting and daring adventure. Dakota also had an interest in collecting guns and knives.  

Saturday, July 20th, 2024 in Waynesburg, KY, Dakota's life ended suddenly after injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.  Dakota was 29 years old.

Dakota leaves surviving the following relatives to keep his memory alive: His loving & devoted parents; father Hubert Wayne Bowling & step-mother Brandy of Stinnett, KY; his mother Misty Feltner of Marathon, FL;  one son Maverick Bowling, one daughter Addison Bowling, and a step-daughter Violet Anderson, all of Somerset, KY, as well as one child due in November of 2024.  Paternal grandmother Saralene Eversole Whitaker (Greg) of Stinnett, KY, maternal grandmother Gail Jackson (Clyde) of Irvine, KY, one brother Tyler Mullins (Santana) of Lawrenceburg, KY, two sisters Sierra Bowling Harrison (Dylan) of Gettysburg, OH and Tiffany Hoskins Hoelscher (Josh) of OH;  special uncles Jody Bowling and John Feltner; cherished nieces and nephews Scarlett Harrison, Emmalena, Kohen and Cooper Hoelscher,  special friends Victor and Adam.  A multitude of other friends, treasured family and coworkers also survive his passing.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Billy Wayne Bowling, paternal step-grandfather Dwight Napier and maternal grandfather Harold Feltner.

The funeral service for Dakota will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, July 27th, 2024 at the Stinnett Church of Christ with Bobby Don Morgan and Jared Eversole officiating.

Interment will follow the services at the Eversole Family Cemetery at Confluence, KY.  with Wayne Bowling, Misty Feltner, Sierra Harrison, Jody Bowling, Dylan Harrison, Josh Hoelscher and Tyler Mullins serving as pallbearers.  

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4p.m. Thursday evening until 10 p.m. Friday evening at the Hurts Creek Church of Christ.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
