David Mitchell

February 6, 1951 — August 11, 2020

Yeaddiss, Kentucky

David Mitchell was born February 6th, 1951. He went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of 69. He resided in Yeaddiss, Ky and was a life- long resident of Leslie county other than residing in Ohio and Indiana for a brief period for work.  He was a faithful member of The Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ in Smilax, KY, he loved his church family.

David provided for his family, working 26 years for Harlan Cumberland Coal. At one point, working 3 jobs at one time. David was a selfless man, with love and compassion for all.  What made him most happy was being the role of Husband, Dad, Papaw, and Pappy.  David treasured the time with his family and continued his dedication and love to them throughout his own sickness.  He had an outgoing and amusing personality. His sense of humor always assured a laugh, even on your worst day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gracie and Lester Mitchell, his siblings, Pauline Cress, George Mitchell, Everett Mitchell, and Betty Miniard.

He is survived by the love of his life, Christine Mitchell, whom he married in 1972. Their love blossomed for over 48 years. He is also survived by his three children,  David Wayne and wife, Melissa Mitchell of Yeaddiss, KY,  Tammy and husband, Steven Hacker of Stinnett, KY,  Renee and husband, Michael Johnson of Berea, KY, nine grandchildren, Tanielle - Thomas Kemper, Kristen-Joe Howard, Madison-Darrin Feltner, Jareth Hacker, Haley Mitchell, Hannah Mitchell, Makayla Johnson, Mikey Johnson and Makenzie Johnson,  four great grandchildren, Keira Howard, Trey Kemper, Jayde Howard and Tessa Kemper.  Other survivors include, his beloved step-mother, Rose Mitchell who raised David as of her own, from the age of 2,  his brothers, Lonis and wife, Marie Mitchell, Larry and wife, Mavie Mitchell, and Jeffrey Mitchell, sisters, Dallie and husband, Carl Maggard, Kathy Shepherd and Ann Mitchell.

He has stepped into his eternal rest with his Heavenly Father and joined his loved ones who are now rejoicing. Although we are mournful, we must rejoice and be happy that his soul will live forever, with no more pain, sickness, or smothering.

Bye bye for now “as he always said” Husband, Dad, Papaw, and Pappy, Brother and Friend, we love you. We are blessed to have spent this time we have had with you.
