Donald Edward Williams, age 70 of Smilax, Kentucky, departed this walk of life on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the UK Chandler Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1946 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Oley and Mollie Garrison Williams. Don owned and operated a country grocery store on Polls Creek for many years. He worked as a coal miner for more than 30 years, employed by Blue Diamond Coal Co. He enjoyed fishing and auto body work in his time off. He was a family man and cherished the time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren. Don was a life-long resident of Leslie County and was affiliated with the Smilax Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Lee; one daughter, Melissa Renea Williams; Granddaughter, Hannah Baker; two brothers, Oley Williams, Jr., and Jack Williams; four sisters, Elsie Wells, Eula Wells, Sancie Bowling, and Darcus Jean Williams.
Survivors include, one son, Dwayne Crabtree (Paula) of Stanford, KY; two daughters, Dixie Jo Coots (Wayne) of Georgetown, KY, and Redonna Evans (Charlie Baker) of Smilax, KY; two brothers, Kenneth Williams (Kay) of Smilax, KY, and Ben Williams of Bastrap, TX; two sisters, Geneva Boggs (Willie) of Smilax, KY, and Ola Faye Stephenson (David) of FL; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Friday in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Danny Day and Harold Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Day Cemetery at Smilax, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 - 9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
