Dr. Richard Daniel Hunley, age 36 of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of Leslie County, husband of Kesha McClure, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26th, 2016 in Grassaway, West Virginia. He was the son of Eugene and Joyce Collett Hunley of Essie, Kentucky. He was born August 20th, 1979. Richard was presently employed at Berea College and recently received his doctorate degree in education. Richard was an avid reader and had published several times. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, collecting, movies, pictures and researching ancestry. He and his wife, Kesha were members of the Bethel Baptist Church in Eubank, Kentucky. .
Richard was preceded in death by: Colressa Maria Hunley, Ashley Joyce- Maria Hunley; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Delora Collett, and paternal grandparents, Millard and Ninnie Hunley;
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Kesha McClure Hunley; three sons, Lennard Schmidt, Kazuya Ishamura, and Hendrik Kersten; one daughter, Apichaya Pipatkitikul of Somerset, Kentucky; beloved parents, Eugene and Joyce Hunley of Essie, Kentucky; father-in -law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Joanne McClure of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; two brothers, Eugene Allen Hunley of Greenville, Kentucky, and James Gregory Hunley of Richmond, Kentucky; two sisters, Karen Melissa Wilson and husband, Bryan of Thousandsticks, Kentucky, and Gale Lynn Hunley of Richmond, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Anthony Allen Hunley, Megan Elizabeth Johnson, Matthew Allen Hunley, Kyla Lorielle Couch, Tiffany Brooke Hunley, Jordan Xavier Wilson, Kaitlyn Madison Hunley, Kelsie Reagan Couch, Lynsey Paige Wilson, Carson Xavier Wilson, Allison Elizabeth Hunley, Jasmine Grace Hunley; a host of other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 01, 2016 at the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church at Essie, Kentucky with Slade Moore and Carl Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmer Collett Cemetery at Essie, Kentucky. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
