Edith Griffie Osborne was born October 29, 1959 at Caliopi, KY to the union of the late Burchell and Pauline Rice Griffie. She was a life-long resident of Leslie County and by occupation, she was a retired dietitian from Mary Breckinridge Hospital. Edith was united in marriage to Robert "Pete" Osborne at Thousandsticks, KY on September 25, 1982. She was of the holiness faith and was a member of the Parkway Holiness Church at Thousandsticks. She enjoyed attending auctions, gambling, fishing and hunting. She loved to cook for large family gatherings and spend time with her grandchildren. Edith departed this life on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center. She was 60 years old.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by, her twin sister, Ethel, and sister, Wilma Osborne; three half brothers, Bud, Donald and Dempsey Griffie; two nephews, Bill Osborne and Steven Griffie; beloved mother-in-law, Dallie Osborne, special friend, George Hartson and her beloved dog, Miss Mollie.
Edith leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Robert "Pete" Osborne of Thousandsticks, KY; one son, Jerry Woods & Denise of Thousandsticks, KY; one brother, Jack Griffie & Phyllis of Thousandsticks, KY, two half brothers, Joe Griffie & Ruthie of CA and Henry Griffie & Margaret of IN; two sisters, Cinda Sandlin and Phyllis "Tick" Begley, both of Thousandsticks, KY; one half sister, Margaret Lee of Frankfort, KY; her beloved father-in-law, Golden Osborne of Thousandsticks, KY and brother-in-law, Golden Osborne, Jr.; two grandchildren, Courtney "Bear" Hoskins & Jacob of Hyden, KY and Ryan "Chubbles" Woods & Katie of Bear Branch, KY; two step-grandchildren, Tonda Collins & Terry and Chris Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Arlie Robert Gavin Hoskins, Jacob Reed Hoskins, Jackson Carter Lee Hoskins and Greyson Bennett Woods; three step-great-grandchildren, Kara Peyton Collins, Kloe Collins and Colson Wayne Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. - Tuesday at the Parkway Holiness Church with Tyler Marcum officiating, and words by Jamie "Goob" Osborne and Phyllis "Tick" Begley. Interment will follow in the Gillie Osborne Cemetery at Thousandsticks, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation after 6p.m. - Sunday until the service hour on Tuesday at the church.
