Elmer Barrett was born January 04, 1952 in Leslie County, KY to the union of the late McKinley Barrett and the late Letha Wagers Barrett. He departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY at the age of 61 years. By occupation he was a factory worker, employed by Ohio Pulp Mill. He was a resident of Hamilton, OH for over 25 years before moving back to Leslie County. He was currently residing at Big Creek, KY at the time of his passing. Elmer enjoyed fishing, hunting, four wheeling and ginsenging. Elmer is preceded in death by his parents: McKinley and Letha Wagers Barrett; 1 brother: Dallas Barrett; 1 infant son: Doug and 1 son he loved as his own: Justin North. Mr. Elmer Barrett leaves surviving the following relatives: 3 daughters: Sandra Shepherd of Fairfield, OH, Connie "Susie" Bell of Fairfield, OH and Sharon Gibson of Bear Branch, KY. 2 sons whom he loved as his own: L.J and Shane North, both of Hamilton, OH; 3 brothers: John Chester Barrett of Stinnett, KY, Leslie Barrett of Essie, KY and Lee Barrett of Richmond, KY; 2 sisters: Bertha Harris of London, KY and Velda Collett Essie, KY. Special friend: Amanda Ledford of Big Creek, KY; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services for Elmer Barrett will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. - Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, KY with Chuck Jack officiating. Burial will follow at the Bowen's Creek Cemetery at Essie, KY. The Barrett Family will receive friends for visitation after 6:00 P.M. - Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the church.
