Eugene Coots

Eugene Coots of Wooton, Kentucky was born March 11, 1946 in Leslie County to the union of the late Ray and Mary Smith Coots.  He was united in marriage to Mary Bashen in Bowling Green, Kentucky on October 02, 1993.

By occupation, Eugene was a self-employed contractor.  Eugene was a former deputy sheriff for the Leslie County Sheriff’s Department.  During the time serving as deputy, Eugene devoted his time escorting funerals for the families of Leslie County.  He had the heart of a servant for the people and those in need.  He enjoyed fishing and was an avid stamp collector.  He was also a former music DJ.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Billy Wayne and Daniel Coots.  Five sisters, Betty Chambers, Geraldine Hasty, Josephine Coots, Elizabeth Coots and Janice Coots.

Eugene leaves surviving, his wife Mary Bashen Coots of Wooton, KY, five sons, Kenneth Eugene Coots (Paula) of Scottsville, KY, Daniel Wayne Coots of Russellville, KY, Nathan Coots (Savannah) of Glasgow, KY, Benjamin Coots of Glasgow, KY and one stepson, Darrell Buchanan (Trina) of Bowling Green, KY.  Two stepdaughters, Pamela Sue Hopper (Martin) and Brandi Logsdon (Robert), both of Bowling Green, KY.   Other survivors include, four brothers, Ray Coots, Jr. Markleville, IN, Woodrow Coots (Sue) of Anderson, IN, Dana Coots of Shelbyville, KY and Ronnie “J.B.” Coots (Christian) of Stein, Germany. One sister, Judy Jacobs (Gary) of Lyons, IN.  Seven Cherished grandchildren and two cherished great-grandchildren.  His special friends, Boyd Pennington and Steve Sizemore.  A host of other family and friends also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday, December 06, 2022 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Brian Hubbard officiating.

Interment will follow in the Skeens Cemetery at Wooton, KY with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family of Mr. Eugene Coots will receive friends from 11a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.

**Masonic Services will be held prior to services at 12 noon**
