Frederick Allen Huff was born January 05, 1949, at Confluence, Kentucky to the union of the late Barney and Martha Jane Campbell Huff.
Fred had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. He began working at the age of 16 as a log sawyer at the Begley Lumber Company where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church.
Fred loved the outdoors and enjoyed being in the mountains hunting ginseng and enjoying the beauty of Appalachia. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Fred was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed playing a game of basketball. He was a craftsman and loved making things. Above all, Fred cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren.
He departed this walk of life on April 16, 2023, at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY at the age of 74.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by one brother, David Huff, two sisters, Linda Bell Langdon and Bessie Langdon. One great granddaughter, Anastasia Marie McQueen, one daughter-in-law, Terri Fee and three brothers-in-law, Morton Farley, Walter Langdon and Marion Langdon.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Pennington (James) of Manchester, KY, Martha Shepherd (Clem) of Hyden, KY, and Freda Banks (Anthony) of Hyden, KY. One son, Arnold Fee of Hyden, KY, one brother, Damon Huff (Betty) of Hyden, KY, two sisters, Hazel Huff of Pippa Passes, KY and Daisy Farley of Middletown, OH. Longtime special friend and companion, Nora Morgan of Hyden, KY & her children, Shirley Morgan & kids, Theresa Morgan & son Brandon. Special relative, Sarah Begley of Hyden, KY cherished grandchildren & great grandchildren, Michael Collett & Crystal (Tristan), Arnold Coots & Patricia (Kayla, Isaac, Eric, and Samantha), Verna McQueen & David (Anna Jo, Colin & Jonah), Devon Coots, Tiffany Napier, Benjamin Napier (Tucker), Kayla Adams (Cody, Rilynn and Jase), Christopher Jones (Megan, Annalise & Aaliyah), Natasha Deaton & Austin, Sierra Banks, Jayden & Jerry Lumpkins and Jonah Fee (Terri Rayanna Hope). A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. – Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Ralph Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Valentine Cemetery at Confluence, KY with Arnold Coots, Michael Collett, Austin Deaton, Ben Napier, Cody Adams, Christopher Jones, Jerry Lumpkins, Shannon Adams, Devin Coots, Jonah Fee and James Pennington serving as pallbearers.
The family of Frederick Allen Huff will receive friends for visitation from 6p.m. – 9p.m., Friday evening at the chapel.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
