Gearldine (Morgan) Collins

Gearldine Collins was born November 05, 1940 at Essie, Ky to the union of the late Taylor and Eva Baker Morgan.  She had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Essie, KY.  She was affiliated with the Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church and the Sheep Shelter Holiness Church.  Gearldine was united in marriage to Clay Collins on November 28, 1956.  She was retired from the Frontier Nursing Service where she served more than 23 years in the dietary department at Mary Breckinridge Hospital.  Gearldine was a kind and loving mother.  Shen cherished her friends and enjoyed cooking and going to church.

Gearldine departed this walk of life on Saturday, July 09, 2022 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center at the age of 81.

In addition to her parents, Gearldine was preceded in death by her loving & devoted husband, Clay Collins, two beloved children, Freda L.  Gilbert and Jeffery T. Collins.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lowell Morgan, Eugene Morgan, Cephas Morgan, Joe Morgan and Georgia Lamb.

Gearaldine leaves surviving the following relatives: two beloved daughters, Janice R. Brock of Crothersville, IN and Mona L. Caldwell (Baxter) of Essie, KY.  Other survivors include, two sisters, Winnie Duff of IL and Gewonadene Morgan McKinnley of Stinnett, KY, nine cherished grandchildren, Dana Collins, Jonathon Gilbert, Eric Whitehead, Aaron Whitehead, Christopher Brock, Alissa Huff, Chawntay Bretz, Beth Davidson and T.J. Collins, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, special sister-in-law, Mary Baker Morgan of Hyden, KY.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service for Gearldine Morgan Collins will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Jerry McKinley Holland, Tom Elliott and Patrick Morgan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Morgan – Collins Cemetery at Essie, KY.

The Collins family will receive friend from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home chapel.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
