Goldie Collett

Goldie Collett, age 78 of Roark, Kentucky, departed this walk of life on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Hazard A.R.H. Medical Center. Goldie was born January 15, 1937 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of the late John Wagers and the late Bertha Smith Wagers. She was united in marriage to her loving and devoted husband, Harold Collett on September 07, 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bowen's Creek United Baptist Church at Essie, Kentucky. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. Goldie enjoyed cooking, working with flowers and most importantly, spending time with her family. Other than her parents, Goldie is preceded in death by: one son, Denzil Collett; five brothers: Crawford, Cloyd, Warren, Arnold, and Estill Wagers; three sisters: Gladys Smallwood, Letha Barrett, and Retha Lawson;

Goldie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Harold Collett of Roark, KY; two daughters, Mary Brown (Lonnie Dean), and Cledith Brown (Rev. Ralph Brown), both of Essie, KY; two children she raised as her own, Doug and Bertha Wagers; two sisters: Lila Bowling of Manchester, KY, and Sandra Stump of Indianapolis, IN; brother-in-law: Caleb Collett, Jr. of Roark, KY; daughter-in-law: Sharon Collett of Hoskinston, KY; seven cherished grandchildren: Amy Simpson, David Collett, Keyesha Collett, Deana Huff, Dinah Nolan, Amanda Houser, and Page Williams; fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Bowen's Creek United Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Brown, Rev. Carl Brown, Rev. Taylor Adams, and Rev. James Bowling, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation after 5:00 P.M., Thursday evening at the church.
