Grace Woods

Mrs. Grace Howard Woods was born March 01, 1927 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Henry Howard and the late Hallie Mattingly Howard. She departed this walk of life on Friday, January 31, 2014 at her residence, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 30 days. She was married to her loving and devoted husband, George on March 02, 1946. Grace spent her formative years in Ohio, where she and her husband, George were employed by the General Motors Company. After their retirement, She and George moved to Corbin, Kentucky to reside. She was a resident of Bear Branch, Kentucky at the time of her passing. Grace was of the Southern Baptist Faith. They attended the Central Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky and was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church at Big Creek, Kentucky at the time of her passing. Grace enjoyed cooking and traveling with her husband, George. Grace is preceded in death by: her parents: Henry and Hallie Mattingly Howard; 2 - brothers: Charles and Jimmy Howard; 2 - sisters: Millie Howard & Gladys Montgomery. Mrs. Grace Woods is survived by her loving and devoted husband, George of Bear Branch, KY; 1 - brother: Eddie Bruce Howard (Jeanette) of Dayton, OH; 4 - sisters: Mary Rose Baker (Robert) of North Carolina, Callie Morgan of Hyden, KY, Polly Allred of North Carolina, Freda Hinton of Dayton, OH; special Nephew: William Woods and wife, Sharon of Bear Branch, KY; special friends: Raleigh & Cinda Morgan of Corbin, KY and Robert Combs of London, KY; 2 - special caregivers: Linda Thomas & Linda Sizemore; A host of cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, February 04, 2014 in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe & Rev. Mark Back officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Woods Cemetery at Hyden, KY. The Woods family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M., Monday, February 03, 2014 at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
