Hazel Smith

January 15, 1938 — November 30, 2014

Hazel Smith, age 76 of Essie, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at her residence. Hazel was born in Essie, Kentucky to the union of the late Woodard and Emily Napier Smith. She was a homemaker and had been a life long resident of Leslie County. Hazel enjoyed gardening, walking, watching T.V., going to the flea market and traveling to the Smokey Mountains. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by, one brother: Frank Smith; two sisters: Evelyn Smith and Laura Collett; sister-in-law: Alma Sue Smith.

Hazel is survived by: two sons: Robert Felix "Bobby" Smith (Ruth) of Essie, KY and Victor Darnell Smith (Terri) of Woodbine, KY; four daughters: Vanessa Smith of Essie, KY, Melinda Charlene Leschinskey (Carl) of Roark, KY, Emily Crystal Roberts (Randall) of Manchester, KY, and Melanie Ann Smith of Essie, KY; five brothers: Levi Smith, Jr. (Jean) of Essie, KY, Earl Smith of Stinnett, KY, Corbal Smith (Romaine) of Asher, KY, Kenneth Smith of Science Hill, KY, and Fred Smith (Cathy) of London, KY; two sisters: Louanna Smith and Marie Smith (Jerry Matthews), both of Woodbine, KY; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. - Thursday, December 04, 2014 at the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, Kentucky with Chuck Jack, Eugene "Friday" Roberts and Robert Lee Hacker officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY. The family will receive friends after 5:00 P.M. - Wednesday, December 03, 2014 at the church.
