Helen Ruth Roberts Caudill was born July 09, 1945 in Hyden, Kentucky. She was born to the union of the late Bradley and Annalee Morgan Roberts. She was a graduate of Leslie County High School and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County.
As a teen, Helen worked at the drive-in theater and Campbell Drug. Later, she worked for Hyden Jewelry where she met the love her life whom she wed in 1969 in Wise, Virginia. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church. Helen worked in the 1980’s and 1990’s as a teacher’s aide, employed by the Leslie County Board of Education. She worked until her retirement with nearly 16 years of devoted service. During her time as an aide, Helen touched many lives with her kindness and genuine concern for each student.
Helen enjoyed the simple things in life, such as faith, family, food and Christmas. She was a seasoned cook and enjoyed cookbooks and entering canning contests in the Mary Breckinridge festival. She was a beloved homemaker and enjoyed sewing. Helen was steadfast in her faith and enjoyed going to church when her health allowed. When she was not able to attend, she enjoyed listening to Jimmy Swaggart. One of Helen’s most treasured past times was traveling with her husband, James to different areas to site see and have lunch. Above all, she enjoyed porch sitting with her family and spending time with children and grandchildren. Helen departed this life on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center. She was 75 years old.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Joe and Bobby “Chops” Roberts and one sister, Bernadine Young.
Helen leaves behind, her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, James “Jim” Walter Caudill of Hyden, KY, four beloved children, Stephanie Walker & husband, Nick of Wooton, KY, Deborah Caudill & Richard Clark of Stinnett, KY, James Bradley Caudill & wife, Natasha of Hyden, KY and James W. “Jimbo” Caudill, Jr. & wife, Pam of Whitesburg, KY. Other survivors include ten cherished grandchildren, Candace McGeorge & husband Zach, Nicholas Walker, Braden Walker, Jamison Walker, Kaylee Marie Ruth Caudill, James Dalton Caudill, Jim Ed Caudill & wife, Reece, Jeffrey Caudill & wife, Ginger, Sarah Caudill and Elizabeth Clark, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Upon the request of the family, all services will be private. Interment will be at the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery Southeast, Hyden, Kentucky.
