Henrietta Burton

Henrietta Burton (of Hyden, Kentucky) was born December 31, 1965 in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Dudley & Ruth Lewis Burton.

Henrietta worked for 27 years as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  She had a kind and loving soul that was shown to others throughout her life.  Henrietta cherished her family, especially her nieces and nephews.  Her love for children was evident and through her work, she made a positive impact on many lives.  She loved her two dogs, Copper, and Dozer; she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning her harvest.  Henrietta also had an appreciation for beautiful flowers.  She worked tirelessly in her flower garden.

Henrietta departed this walk of life on Sunday, October 01, 2023 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky at the age of 57.

In addition to her parents, Henrietta was preceded in death by one cherished son, Michael Burton and two brothers, James and Farris Burton.

Survivors include her loving & devoted significant other of more than 28 years, Jeffery Bowling of Thousandsticks, KY, one sister, Katherine Pennington (Bill) of Richmond, KY, her mother-in-law, Juanita Sizemore, two she loved and referred to as “Sis”, Emmalene Wells (Rick) of Somerset, KY and Tina Eldridge (Bill) of Thousandsticks, KY.  Other survivors include her nephews and nieces, Josh Alfaro of Richmond, KY, Gus Alfaro of Richmond, KY, James Burton of Stinnett, KY, Lance Turner (Kelli) of Central City, KY, Brandon Osborne (Kim) of Acup, KY, Brent Osborne (Chelsea) of Hyden, KY, Tyler Eldridge (Jayden) of Knott Co., KY, Heather Begley (Jeffrey) of VA, Samantha Turner of London, KY, Mekeshia Rogers (Caleb) of Hazard, KY and Heather Sexton (Jackie) of Willington, WV as well as a host of great nieces & nephews.  Her special friends, Judy Farmer, Rita Jeffers, Abbie Lewis, Melinda Callahan, Scottie Napier, Suzanne Holland, Pamela Sizemore, Darlene Sizemore, and Trudy Morgan.  A host of other family & friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held for Henrietta at 1p.m. – Friday, October 06, 2023 at Rockhouse Pentecostal Church with Ted Couch, Roger Wolfe, Randy Woods and Ronnie Turner officiating.  The reading of obituary by Scottie Napier.

Interment will follow in the Ruth Burton Cemetery at Hyden, KY with Lance Turner, Brent Osborne, Seth “Bubba” Price, Brandon Osborne, Bill Eldridge, and Caleb Rogers serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation from 6p.m. – 10p.m., Thursday evening at the church.
