Obituary for Henry Day
Henry Day, East Laurel Road, London, Kentucky, born December 3, 1919, passed away December 24, 2017 being 98 years and 3 weeks of age. He formerly lived on Polls Creek, in Leslie County, Kentucky and was the son of the late Felix Day and Martha Kilburn Day. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edith Lewis Day; by nine siblings, Laura, Rebecca, Troy, Rollie, Ada, Ona, Dillard, Mary, and Clarence; by his son-in- law, Harold Engle, and a great grandson, Dustin Harold Anderson.
He is survived by a daughter, Lena Day Engle, London, KY and sons Elmer Day and wife Bonnie, East Bernstadt, KY and Roger Wells and wife Carolyn, Bonnyman, KY; by grand children, Sherry Engle Anderson (Robert), London, KY, Joan Wendover " Wendy" Day Delahousay ( Kevin), Harrodsburg, KY, Roderick Elmer Day (Daphne), East Bernstadt, KY, Nancy Susan Yvette Day Hurley (Owen), Ocala, Florida, Kelly Wells !son (Brian), Hazard, KY, and Wendy Wells, Hazard, KY. Adrian Shepherd and Crystal Shepherd, Hindman, Ky. Also surviving is 9 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren. He also leaves numerous other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. By occupation Henry would like to be remembered first as a farmer, but he was a retired coal miner and mine operator for over 40 years, a World War II veteran, served in the CCC's, and worked on the WPA.
He was a member of the church of Christ and attended the Mill Street Church of Christ, London, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 P, M. at London Funeral Home, London, KY. Services will be Thursday December 28, 2017 at 2:00 P. M. at the funeral home. Brothers, Donnie Oliver, Harold Turner, and Danny Day will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Roderick Elmer Day, Noah Zachery Day, Israel Thomas Moore, Matthew Machan Moore, Robert Anderson, Kevin Delahousay, Owen Hurley. Burial will follow in the Henry and Edith Day family cemetery Bob Deaton Road, London, KY.
