Mr. Howard Napier of Essie, KY, passed away on Monday, November 04, 2013 at the Mary Breckinridge ARH in Hyden, KY. Howard was 86-years, 10-months and 22-days of age at the time of his passing. Howard was born in Leslie County, KY to the union of the late William "Willy" Napier and the late Miley Roark Napier on December 13, 1926. Howard served honorably in the United States Army. He was a decorated WWII Veteran. By occupation, Howard was the former Director of Pupil Personal, employed by the Leslie County Board of Education and the former Sanitarian & Environmentalists for the Leslie County Health Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and reading. Howard is preceded in death by his parents: William "Willie" & Millie Roark Napier; 1-son: Ronnie Edgar Napier; 1-daughter: Faye Etta Kerr; 2-brothers: Orville Napier and Edgar Napier which was lost at sea in WW II; 1-sister: Mae Napier; 1-grandson: Ritchie Napier. Mr. Howard Napier leaves surviving the following relatives: His loving and devoted wife: Mary Collett Napier of Essie, KY; 1-beloved daughter: Connie Adams (Leon) of Essie, KY; 3-brothers: Curtis Napier of Essie, KY, Eugene Napier of Stinnett, KY and Leonard Napier of Essie, KY; 3-sisters: Edith Morgan of Essie, KY, Louise of OH and Ethel Collett of TN; 7 grandchildren: Ryan Culler, Ronee' Simpson (Chris), Marianne Simpson (Jason), Leanne Wilson (Brandon), Brittany Gross (Chris), Ethan Adams (Sendra) and Eugenia Napier; 9-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. The funeral services for Mr. Howard Napier will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. - Friday, November 08, 2013 from the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Todd Billingsly, James Bowling, Jr. and Roger Wolfe officiating. Also comments by Lida Feltner. Burial will follow the services at the Howard & Mary Napier Cemetery at Essie, KY with full military honors, observed by the Leslie County D.A.V. chapter # 133. The following will serve as pallbearers: Chis Gross, Brandon Wilson, Ryan Culler, Ethan Adams, Stewart Napier, Chris Simpson and Jason Simpson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Collett, Marvin Morgan and the Leslie County D.A.V. chapter # 133. The Napier family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. - Thursday, November 07, 2013 at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home. The Family request expressions of sympathy take place in the form of donations to the Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter # 133. WOLFE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS-
