Mr. James Howard Conner of Yeaddiss, Kentucky was born February 01, 1942 in New Castle, IN. The second of three children, he was born to the union of the late Vivian and Ida Thomas Conner. He grew up in New Castle and was a graduate of the Chrysler High School. James was a United States Army Veteran, having served honorably in the Korean Conflict. He later attended the Indiana Law enforcement academy. By occupation, James was a 37 year veteran of the New Castle Police Department. After his retirement in 1997, James moved to Leslie County to reside. He was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, Judy Turner Conner on June 28, 2007. James enjoyed gun & horse trading, cooking and in his formative years, he enjoyed wood work. James enjoyed life, he always found humor in all that he could. He also had many popular sayings he often quoted among his family. James departed this walk of life on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center at the age of 73 years. Other than his beloved parents, James is preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Gross Conner.
James is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Judy Turner Conner of Yeaddiss, KY; one son: Gregory Allen Conner (Christine) of Hagerstown, IN; one daughter: Gaye Conner Gribbons (Scott) of New Castle, IN; one brother: Roy Conner and his children, Christopher, Steve, and Robin; one sister: Jane Rummel (Herman) and their son, Kyle; two cherished grandchildren: Christopher Allen Conner of Spencer, IN, and Jessica Villines of Westfield, IN; special friends: Roger Gross, Mike Caldwell, Sheryl, and many of the Big Fork Church of God members. A host of other family and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 15, 2015 with Mike Joseph, Roger Wolfe and Winfred Causey officiating. Burial will follow in the Jim Baker Family Cemetery at Beatty Branch. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
