Interment: Morgan - Begley Cemetery – Hyden, KY with military honors under the direction of Leslie Co. D.A.V. Chapter 133 and KSP Honors.

Visitation: 6-9 PM – Tuesday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Masonic Rites at 7PM.

J ames Fred Davidson, of Thousandsticks, Kentucky entered his Heavenly home on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center at the age of 71.  Fred was born August 10, 1946 in Jackson County, Kentucky to the union of the late Robert Wesley Davidson and the late Bertha Marie Bowling Davidson.  Fred was united in marriage to his beloved soul mate, Jackie Hill on December 18, 1965 in Williamsburg, Kentucky.  In 1970, Fred began his career as a Kentucky State Police Trooper.  During his career, Fred served as detective and in 1988, served as a K-9 Unit with his partner, “Bingo”.  Fred along with his K-9 Partner, Bingo aired on the 1990’s Television series, Rescue 911.  Fred responded to many areas within and out of the state to assist with K-9 assignments.  Fred retired in 1997 with 27 years of faithful service to the state police.  He was elected as Leslie County Sheriff in 1999 and served one term.  He then served as Police Chief of the Cumberland Police Department in Cumberland, Kentucky from July 2008 until February 2010.  He was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted and faithful member of the Hyden Baptist Church.  Fred was a very kind and generous person, volunteering much of his time to numerous boards and organizations.  He was the current chairman of the Citizens Foster Review Board.  He was also a very dedicated member of the Hyden Masonic Order, Lodge # 664.  He was a faithful Shriner, board member of Interest Persons Review Board and an elected Leslie County Conservation Officer.  Fred served honorably in the United States Army-National Guard from 1965 – 1971.  In his later years, Fred worked as a transport person for Tim Short Automotive.  Fred enjoyed shooting guns, fishing, attending lodge, and going to sporting events. His greatest joys came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Jackie Hill Davidson of Thousandsticks, KY;  one beloved son, Steve Davidson & wife, Michelle of Hyden, KY;  one beloved daughter, Theresia Davidson of Hyden, KY;  three brothers, Herbert Davidson & wife, Joanne of Cincinnati, OH, Clyde Davidson of Cincinnati, OH, and Donald Davidson & wife, Francis of Richmond, KY;  two sisters, Jean Bingham & husband, Tommy, and Marlene Alexander & husband, Tony, both of Berea, KY;  four cherished grandchildren, Steven Ray Davidson II & wife, Katie, Tiffany Irene Davidson-Adams & husband, Jason, Joshua Wayne Griffith, and Emily Marie Griffith; two cherished great-grandchildren, Austin Collett, and Kaley Collett;  four treasured great-grandchildren, Caden Shepherd, Noah Adams, Hayleigh Grace  Adams, and Mason James Davidson;  a host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held 1PM – Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.  Interment followed in the Morgan - Begley Cemetery at Hyden, Kentucky by Full police honors by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard and Military Honors by Leslie County D.A.V. Ch. #133. Masonic Rites were given at the visitation. The family entrusted Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home to carefully handle the arrangements.  Online condolences at www.wolfeandsonsfh.com.
