James Smith, age 61 of 18834 Hwy. 421, Hyden, Kentucky passed away Thursday at the U.K. Medical Center, in Lexington, Ky. He was born to the union of Wanda Morgan Smith and the late Rufus Smith. He was united in married to Patricia Bowling Smith who preceded him in death in 2012. James was a self employed truck driver and was the owner and operator of a successful trucking business in Hyden, Kentucky. James is survived by his mother: Wanda Morgan Smith of Essie, Kentucky; two sons: Scott Smith and wife, Monica Rice Smith of Hyden, Kentucky, and Patrick Smith and wife, Kayla of Red Bird, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Bailey Smith, Arabella Patricia Smith, and Bristol James Smith; two sisters: Charlene Smith of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Karen Dettman of Cynthiana, Kentucky; a host of other cherished family and friends survive his passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with John Pugh, Patrick Morgan, and Tim Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, Kentucky. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The family entrusted Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home to be in charge of the arrangements.
