Jimmie Shepherd

Jimmie Shepherd was born December 02, 1938 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Wilson & Mary Lewis Shepherd.  Jimmie was united in marriage to Carolyn Hacker on March 09, 1963.  Jimmie was of the Pentecostal faith and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County.  By occupation, Jimmie was a retired coal miner, employed by Blue Diamond Coal Company.  He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed going to church and fishing.  In former years he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Carolyn.  Jimmie had two dogs which he cared for, Mack and Orea.

He departed this walk of life on Tuesday, May 04, 2021 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center at the age of 82.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his brothers, Otis, Joe and Andy Shepherd, as well as one sister, Bessie Day.

Jimmie leaves behind, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Carolyn Hacker Shepherd of Smilax, KY; one beloved son, Gregory Scott Shepherd & Sheila of Wooton, KY; one beloved daughter, Sheila Boggs & Toby of Smilax, KY; one brother, Clayton Shepherd of Lancaster, KY; three sisters, Lorraine Miller of Lancaster, KY, Minirva Hicks of Lancaster, KY and Ida Mae Day of Brownsville, KY; three cherished grandchildren, Devin Shepherd & Deanna of Georgetown, KY, Jordan Boggs & Leanna of Yeaddiss, KY, and James Boggs & Michelle Vickers of London, KY; five cherished great-grandchildren, Bentley, Brantley, Bryleigh, Carter Allen and Kiley.  A host of other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Tommy Fields and Kevin Napier officiating.  Interment will follow in the Jack Williams Cemetery at Smilax, KY.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-9 PM Thursday at the chapel.
