Mr. Joe H. Lewis, born December 04, 1929 in Perry County, Kentucky to the union of the late John Lewis and the late Nora Morgan. He departed this life on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY. Joe was 81 years and 07 days of age at the time of his passing. He was a life long resident of Hyden, KY and was residing at 298 J.H. Lewis Drive, Hyden, KY. Joe was united in marriage on July 03, 1976 at Cinda, KY to his loving wife Jessie Rose Baker. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served honorably in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wooton, KY where he proudly served as trustee. Joe was a member of the Masonic Order and Shriners. He also served as a former Hyden city council member. By occupation, Joe was a Lab Technician. In his formative years Joe was a Kentucky Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer. Joe enjoyed bluegrass music, four wheeling, going to church and going fishing. He's love for animals was evident. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: James & John H. Lewis, Jr. and one sister: June Cahoon. Mr. Joe H. Lewis leaves the following relatives surviving: His loving and devoted wife: Jessie Rose Baker Lewis of Hyden, KY. Two sons: Joey R. Lewis & Merlene of Hyden, KY and John Lewis of Louisville, KY. One step son: Bill Asher of Hyden, KY. One brother: Jack Lewis & Becky of Beaver Creek, OH and one sister: Joy Hughes of Nicholasville, KY. One Grandson: Maison Lewis, two step grandchildren: Madison Combs and Tessa Harris and two step great grandchildren. Two special friends: Lonnie & Lisa Fee of Hyden, KY. A host of other special relatives and friends also survive his passing. The Following will serve as pallbearers: Lonnie Fee, Joey Lewis, John Lewis, Arville Feltner, Bill Asher and Steven Davidson.
