Kimberly Jean Jones was born June 15, 1958 in Lynch, Kentucky to the union late James Gilbert and the late Betty Jean Jones Gilbert. Kim had been a life-long resident of Hyden and Leslie County.
On June 15, 1977, Kimberly married Abijah “Junior” Jones, Jr. To their union was born two children, Abijah Jim Jones and Chelsea Lynn Jones.
Kim was a devout Christian and her faith never wavered. Her life was a living testimony to the faith she had in the Lord. She was a dedicated and beloved member of the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church at Hyden, KY.
Kimberly was a kind and gentle person; she had a genuine concern for others. Her selflessness was evident in the way she lived her life in service to others.
By occupation, Kim worked for 20 years as a registered nurse, employed by the Baptist Regional Medical Center. She was dedicated to her work and enjoyed it immensely.
In addition to her work, Kim enjoyed going to church, hunting, and her favorite hobby was fishing. She was always ready for a fishing trip and the next big catch. She was also a talented artist, drawing pictures of family and friends.
Kim was a seasoned baker. Many people have called upon Kim to bake the perfect cake for their special occasions, including birthdays, weddings, baby showers and more. She took pride in her baking and decorating of the cakes. Her talents and skill in cake decorating were unmatched.
Kimberly left this earthly life peacefully and eagerly on Saturday, February 03, 2024. Kim was 65 years old.
Other than her beloved parents, James G. “Jim” Gilbert and Betty Jean Jones Gilbert, Kim was also preceded in death by one grandchild: Gemma Grey Jones and one sister Judy Gilbert.
Left behind to cherish the memory of Kim is her loving & devoted husband Abijah Jones, Jr. of Hyden, KY, two beloved children Abijah Jim Jones and Chelsea Lynn Jones, both of Hyden, KY.
Other survivors include two beloved brothers James Glenn Gilbert (Donna) of Hyden, KY and Lynn Davis (Donna) of Dayton, OH. Two cherished grandchildren Allie Faith Jones and Autumn Shae Jones, as well and two very special friends Deanna Gray and Angie Morgan. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, her cherished church family, and treasured friends also survive.
A celebration of Kim’s life will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024. It will take place at the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ted Couch officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6p.m. – 10p.m. on Friday, February 09, 2024 at the church.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
