Larry Dean Collett, born on April 16, 1953, in Leslie County, Kentucky to Gewandene Hoskins Collett and the late Homer Collett. Larry departed this earthly walk of life on Thursday, August 08, 2024 at the Hazard A.R.H. in Hazard, Kentucky. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend to.
By occupation, Larry was a retired coal miner with 23 years to the mining industry.
Larry's life was defined by his love for his family his passion for spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was known for his kind and caring nature, always standing as the pillar of strength for those around him, especially his family. Larry had a gentle smile and enjoyed light-hearted jokes with those around him.
Larry had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He loved hunting, fishing, and simply just sitting on the porch watching squirrels. In other times, Larry enjoyed friendly card games with his friends and took great pride in tending to his garden each year. Grilling was another one something else Larry liked, and he never missed a chance to cheer for the UK Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team. As he grew older, Larry developed a liking for shopping, particularly enjoying visits to home improvement stores.
In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death a sister-in-law Susan Collett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Regina Collett, his devoted mother, Gewanadene Hoskins Collett of Stinnett, KY, his sons Kyle Collett (Lane), Andrew Morgan (Amanda), both of London, KY and Dylan Collett of Stinnett, KY; his daughters Natasha Rogers of Manford, OK, Whitney Noble (Khris) of Stinnett, KY and Melinda Collett (Fiancé Andrew Hacker) of Hyden, KY. He also leaves behind a special daughter he raised as his own, Lanie Collett of Stinnett, KY;. In addition, Larry is survived by his brothers Eldon Collett (Janice), Homer Collett (Elaine), and Gary Collett, all of Stinnett, KY as well as his sisters Linda Roberts (Bubby) of Stinnett, KY, Rhonda Morgan (Roger) of Hyden, KY, Tammy Baker (David) of Lincoln County, KY and Missy Hensley (Greg) of Stinnett, KY. Larry's cherished grandchildren Jacoby Paris (Katie), Isaiah Paris (Maycee), Jonathan Rogers, Kyla Collett, Tally Collett, Isaiah Howard, Jacelynn Collett, Logan Collett, and Kynslee Collett, along with his great-grandchild Sophia Paris, will always hold him close to their hearts. He is also remembered by daughter-in-law Cailyn Collett of Hazard, KY, special family friends Tony Collett & his wife Crystal, Henry Hacker, and Dudley Hacker, all of Stinnett, KY, Ariana Bray of Stinnett, KY, and two special brother-in-laws Phillip Howard and Alfred Collett. Larry's numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends also mourn his passing.
The funeral service to commemorate the life of Larry Collett will be held at 1p.m. Sunday, August 11th, 2024 at the Stinnett Gap Church of God with Geoffrey Roberts and Jeff Hacker officiating.
Interment will follow the service at the Collett Family Cemetery at Stinnett, KY with Dylan Collett, Melinda Collett, Kyle Collett, Andrew Hacker, Eldon Collett, Cameron Hensley, Tony Collett, and Khris Noble serving as pallbearers.
Friends and family may gather for visitation after 6p.m. Saturday evening, August 10th, 2024 at the church.
