Laura Belle Collett was born June 05, 1936 in Leslie County to the union of the late Alex and Dorothy Shepherd Barrett. Laura had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Essie, Kentucky at the time of her passing. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Lower Jack’s Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, Kentucky. Laura was a homemaker and a beloved mother and grandmother to many. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting and gardening. Above all, Laura Belle cherished the time spent with her family whom she treasured so very much. She departed from this walk of life on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Laura Belle was 84 years old.
In addition to her beloved parents, Laura Belle was preceded in death by, her husband, William “Gun Smoke” Collett; three beloved children, Ronald Dean Brock, Donna Jean Brock and Paul Wayne Brock; two step-sons, Darrell, Collett, and Bruce Collett; one brother, John Barrett; two sisters, Jane Barrett and Elizabeth Mitchell; granddaughter, Alice Jean Melton; two great-grandsons, Daniel Lynn Whitaker and Jeremy David Melton.
Laura Belle leaves behind, four sons, Jeffrey Lee Brock of Manchester, KY, Clyde Edward Brock & Rita of Stinnett, KY, Alex Brock & Denesha of Manchester, KY, and William Collett & Mia of Essie, KY; three step-sons, Harold Collett of Essie, KY, Loyd Collett of Essie, KY and Anthony Collett of London, KY; two daughters, Raymonda Whitaker & James of Bonnyman, KY and Trilla Marie Brock of Essie, KY; one brother, Ulysses Barrett & Joan of Essie, KY and a sister Blanch Collett of Roark, KY; thirty eight grandchildren, sixty nine great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. – Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel.
