Leemon Asher

April 12, 1941 — November 20, 2020

Bledsoe, Kentucky

Leemon Asher, 79, of Helton, KY was born April 12, 1941 in Saylor, KY and departed this life peacefully on November 20, 2020 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.  In his younger years, Leemon enjoyed gardening, playing baseball, fishing, camping and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family where he was raised, Marbone, KY. By occupation, Leemon was a coal miner, retired from ARCH Coal in Lynch, KY.  He was also a member of the UMWA for many years.  He was of the holiness faith and was a member of the Dry Fork Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Farmer Asher and Matilda Saylor, two beloved children, Leemon “Brother” Asher and Patricia Ann Whitehead, three brothers, Eugene Asher, Tom “T.J.” Asher and Frances Asher and one sister, Myrtle Egan.

Leemon leaves surviving, his wife of 59 years, Joyce Asher of Helton, KY; two daughters, Verda Callahan & Bill of Bledsoe, KY, and Tanya Irvin & Willie of Helton, KY; two brothers, Roscoe Asher & Etta and Earl D. Asher & Sheila, both of Helton, KY; two sisters, Carrie Byars of TN and Margie Brock of Whitley City, KY; daughter-in-law, Karrie Asher Turner of Evarts, KY; twelve grandchildren,  Jody Whitehead & Heather, Cody Whitehead & Valerie, Brittany Asher & Eric, Cheyenne Hall & Chelsea, Morgan Simpson & Nick, Jared Simpson & Danielle, Kyleigh Simpson, Boomer Irvin & Cassie, Hunter Irvin, Tiler Asher, Payton Fee & B.J. and Mason Asher. Ten great-grandchildren, Daughson, Monica, Piper, Phoebe, Serenity, Lance, Landen, Kaley, Gracie, and Harley.  Also, two special friends, Harold Brock and Phillip & P.J. Alves.  Along with a host of other family & friends who will miss him dearly.

There will be a private graveside service at the Dry Fork Cemetery with Camie “Bo” Caldwell and Roscoe Asher officiating.  Interment will follow.  In accordance with the mandates set forth by Gov. Beshear, the service will be private.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
