Lorraine (Lewis) Coots

Lorraine Coots, born July 28, 1931 in Leslie County to the union of the late Hayes & Florence Vanover Lewis. Lorraine had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Wooton, Kentucky at the time of her death.  She was a retired employee of Mary Breckinridge Hospital where she worked as a cook and in the house-keeping department.  She was a devoted member of the Hurts Creek Church of Christ.  She was an avid gardener.  Her hobbies included, working in her flower garden, quilting, sewing and canning.  Most importantly, Lorraine loved to lend a helping hand to others.  Lorraine departed from this life on Monday, July 22, 2019 at her home.  She was 87 years old.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dillard Coots, step-father, Bill Lewis, a daughter, Anita Pennington, two sisters, Evelyn Bowling and Barbara Lewis, a brother, Daniel Keith Lewis, four step-brothers, Elmer, Bige, Levi, and Earl Lewis and one step-sister, Molly Ruth Rhodes.

Lorraine is survived by two beloved children, Wilburn Day (Christy) of London, KY, and Debbie Cornett of Wooton, KY.  Other survivors include, two brothers, David Lewis of Hyden, KY, and Harry Reid Lewis of Wooton, KY, two sisters, Loretta Sloan of Louisville, KY, and Joan Lewis of Somerset, KY, step-brother, Arlie Lewis of Indiana, three step-sisters, Wanda Lewis of Indiana, Pauline Withrow of Hamilton, OH, and Norma Jean Asher of Wooton, KY.  Nine cherished grandchildren, Melinda, Sundie, Patrick, Amber, Rhae Gina, Lorrie, Georgia, Katie, and Audrey and seven cherished great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home - Hyden, Kentucky
