Lowell Chappell

Stinnett, Kentucky

Lowell Chappell was born October 20, 1932, in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Al and Oma Nantz Chappell.  Lowell had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Stinnett, Kentucky at the time of his passing.  By occupation, Lowell was a retired coal miner, employed by Whitaker Coal Company for more than 32 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed working around the house, painting, fishing and boat riding.  He had a great interest in airplanes and enjoyed attending air shows in Dayton, Ohio.   Above all, Lowell enjoyed a good meal with good food and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Lowell was a very giving person and enjoyed sharing with others.  He was a great friend of the Thousandsticks Fire Dept. He donated faithfully to their annual auction to benefit the department.

Lowell departed this walk of life on Friday, June 04, 2021, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 88.

In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mae Vanover Chappell; three brothers, Harvey, Logan, Stanley Chappell, and two sisters, Mary Jane Napier and Hazel Collett.

Lowell leaves behind, two beloved daughters, Kathy Mattingly and husband, Ronald and Brenda Barnes and husband, Fred, both of Stinnett, KY.  Other survivors include, two cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Sizemore & wife, Melinda of London, KY and Colton Barnes of Stinnett, KY, two cherished great-grandchildren, Waylon and Rylon Sizemore, both of London, KY.  A host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. – Friday, June 11, 2021, in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.  Interment will follow the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, Kentucky with the following serving as pallbearers, Waylon Sizemore, Jonathan Sizemore, Colton Barnes, Ronnie Mattingly, Fred Barnes, and Jerry Sawyers. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home chapel.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
