Lucy Lewis of Chavies, Kentucky was born March 10, 1932 in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Charlie and Sylvia Young Williams. Lucy was welcomed into her heavenly home on Saturday, November 25, 2017 while surrounded by her much cherished family. She was 85 years old at the time of her passing. Lucy had been a life-long resident of Leslie County with the exception of having lived in Chavies, Kentucky for the past 11 years. By occupation, Lucy was retired from the Mary Breckinridge Hospital where she served as dietary cook. Lucy enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Lucy had a genuine and undying love for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister and friend. She was a member of the Victory Mountain Grace Brethren Church at Confluence, Kentucky. Lucy was a devout Christian with a wholehearted love for the Lord and his work. She was a very devoted member of the church and had taught primary Sunday school for more than 10 years. Her love for the Lord was evident in the life she lived.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel James Lewis, whom preceded her in death in 1973; a daughter, Phyllis Denise Lewis; two brothers, Charlie Young and Harold Williams.
Lucy leaves behind one son, James Michael Lewis & wife, Mary Ann of Hazard, KY; one daughter, Linda Lewis Craft of Hyden, KY; four brothers, Johnny Williams & wife, Marie of Bear Branch, KY, Woodrow Williams of Hyden, KY, Marcus Williams of Warbranch, KY, and Bill Williams of Florence, KY; two sisters, Vivian Roberts & husband, B-Bob of Hyden, KY and Bertha Begley of Verona, KY; six grandchildren, Malia Craft, Thaddeus Lewis, Naomi Duff Everidge, Aaron Lewis, Roy Combs and Julie Combs; sixteen great-grandchildren, Alexander Duff, Aaron Chad Lewis, Isabella Duff, Austin Lewis, Isaiah Lewis, Chance Mosley, Quentin Lewis, Wesley Lewis, Alysa Everidge, Jacob Combs, Keenan Combs, Keenan Combs, Gavyn Combs, Taylor Combs, Haley Turner, Kaitlyn Everidge, and Kassidy Everidge; special friends, Sally Begley and Lori Kilburn; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Pastors, Sam Baer and Wayne Bowling officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Owls Nest Cemetery at Hyden, Kentucky. Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home chapel.
