Margaret Griffie Lee, age 79, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Hyden, Ky.
Margaret was known by all who loved her as “Doll”. She was born on July 3rd, 1942, to the late Birchel Griffie. She was retired from the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant, in Charlestown, Indiana. She was of Pentecostal Holiness faith.
As a beloved Mother and Grandmother, she spent her life devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gospel music, playing games on her computer, but most of all she loved family gatherings, cook outs and was a daddy’s girl.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her late husband Maurice Lee, her son Jack Sizemore, and Jack Sizemore, the father of her children. Brothers Don Griffie, Bud Griffie, and Dempsey Griffie. Sisters Ethel Griffie, Wilma Griffie Osborne, Edith Osborne and wonderful stepmother Pauline Griffie. Stepchildren Gary Lee and Phyllis Pace.
She is survived by her daughters Sue Dunn, Sarah King (Mandi), 3 grandchildren Shawn Watson, Brandie Dunn and Brittany Olinger (Lawrence). She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren. Brothers Joe Griffie (Ruthie), Henry Griffie (Margaret), and Jack Griffie (Phyllis). Sisters Sinda Sandlin and Phyllis “Tik” Begley. Stepchildren Walter Lee and Cindy Verploeg and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jerry McKinley Holland officiating. Burial will follow at the John North Cemetery in Hyden, Ky. Visitations will be held at the Wolfe & Sons funeral home on Friday, March 4th from 4:00pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday, March 5th from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Serving as Pallbearers are Sarah King, Camdyn Tillman, Lawrence Olinger, Phyllis Begley, Jamie Osborne, Jack Griffie, Jerry Woods and Larry Sandlin.
A special thanks to the entire staff at Hyden Health and Rehabilitation along with her sister Phyllis Begley for the compassionate care given to our mother during her battle.
