Mary (Sams) Lewis

Mary Sams Lewis, age 70, widow of the late Lorenzie "Rennie" Lewis of Wooton, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at the Continued Care Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky.  She was born July 07, 1951, a daughter of the late Willard and Rachel Wells Sams in Hazard, Kentucky.  Mary was a member of the Wooton First Baptist Church, and a booster member of the Wooton Fire Department.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking and her stuffed animals.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lorenzie Lewis on April 24, 2018, an infant daughter,  Alice Raschelle Lewis, two brothers, three sisters, and  a great grandchild, Camellia Lewis.

Survivors include, one son, Tony (T.L.) Lewis and wife, Viola of Wooton, Kentucky, and two special people she loved as her own, Janessa Melton and husband, Arthur of Wooton, Kentucky, and Billy Adams and wife, Melissa of Whitesburg, Kentucky; brothers, Gary Sams and wife, Diana of Jackson County, Kentucky, and Carl Sams and wife, Mary Sue of Georgetown, Kentucky; three sisters, Martha Coots and Joyce Phillips and husband, Albert, both of Jackson County, Kentucky, and Marcella Phillips of London, Kentucky.  Four grandchildren, Zachary Lewis and wife, Denise, Brandon Melton, Casey Lewis, and Justin Melton.  Two great grandchildren,  Izaya and Marcy Lewis.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home with Ora Michel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery at Wooton, Kentucky.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. till the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be: Zachery Lewis, Casey Lewis, Brandon Melton, Justin Melton, Arthur (Peanut) Melton, and Bill Adams. .Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wooton Fire Department. The family has entrusted Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home to carefully handle all the arrangements.
