Mossie Verlin Baker, born on October 27, 1939, in Leslie County, Kentucky, peacefully passed away at her home in Miamisburg, Ohio, on December 10, 2024. Mossie was lovingly surrounded by cherished memories and the warmth of family during her life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion. She left Leslie County at the age of 17 to set out on her own independence.
Throughout her career in the food industry, she worked diligently in various capacities, showcasing her admirable work ethic and commitment to service. Mossie's roles spanned from a waitress and cashier to her time at Emery Company, where she was known for her delightful potato salad.
Family was central to Mossie's life, and after the passing of her beloved husband, she found joy in the time spent with her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her love for family, she had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her flower beds. The beauty of nature brought her great joy, and she took pride in canning the harvest from her garden.
Mossie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mallie Fields Brown, her husband of 26 years, Earl Baker, her five brothers: Charlie, Lenzie, Woodrow, Elisha (E.L.), and Don Brown, and four sisters: Florence Roark, Ruby Dunwoodie, Velva Brown, and Carol Sue Sisk.
She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Charles Brown, Loretta Collett, Lonnie Dean Brown, Eunice McKinney, Betty Baker, Ralph Brown, Della Bennett, Tina Berger, Kimberly Brown, Susie Frost, Joe B. Morgan, Kimmy Scott Morgan, Jimmy W. Morgan, Leeann Gordon, Renee Salyers, Theresa Roberts, Lois Morgan, and Donna McKinney.
The funeral service to commemorate the life Mossie Verlin Baker will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with her nephew Ralph Brown, and Paul Mitchell officiating.
Interment will follow the services at the Charlie Brown Cemetery at Stinnett, KY.
Friends and familly may gather for visitation from 12 noon until the service hour at 2p.m. at the chapel.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
