Mr. Billy Don Morgan

Mr. Billy Don Morgan, born February 04, 1936 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Charlie Morgan and the late Fannie Jones Morgan. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Hazard, KY. He was 76 - years, 08 - months and 13 - days of age. Billy Don was a life long resident of Leslie County and was residing at 150 Dogwood Lane, Essie, Kentucky at the time of his passing. He was united in marriage to Jewel Simpson Morgan on September 10, 1952 at the residence of Albert Morgan in Grassy Branch. By occupation he was a contractor. Billy Don was currently serving as the pastor of the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church of God at Essie, Kentucky. He served as pastor from June 22, 2010 until his death on October 17, 2012. He served as general overseer from 1980 until 2010. He served as Assistant Pastor from 1963 until 1969. Billy Don enjoyed going to church, singing, helping others and spending time with family and friends that were so dear to him. Billy Don is preceded in death by his parents; 1 - infant son; 3 - brothers: Alvin, Harold and John D. Morgan; 1 - sister: Joyce Morgan. Mr. Billy Don Morgan leaves the following relatives surviving: His loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Jewel Simpson Morgan of Essie, KY; 3 - daughters: Donna J. Hensley of Essie, KY, Judy Carol Pugh (James) of Essie, KY and Connie R. Asher (Carlos) of Hyden, KY. 3 - brothers: Edward Morgan (Imogene) of Essie, KY, Ronald Morgan (Reva) of Corbin, KY and Bearl Morgan (Shirley) of Essie, KY; 4 - sisters: Bernice Sizemore of London, KY, Claudette Morgan (Junior Ray) of Essie, KY, Nannie Couch (Charles) of Essie, KY and Wanda Morgan Mosley (Arthur) of Essie, KY. 7 - grandchildren, 8 - great grandchildren and a host of other cherished relatives, friends and church family. Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Don Morgan will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. - Saturday, October 20, 2012 from the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church of God at Essie, KY with Ronnie Oplinger, Roger Wolfe, John Pugh and Charles Blankenship officiating. Entombment will follow at his residence at Essie, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation after 6:00 P.M. - Friday, October 19, 2012 at the church.
