Mr. John Woods was born, May 17, 1939 in Hyden, Kentucky. The son of the late Millard "Jake" Woods and the late Elizabeth "Sissy" Woods, his beloved grandmother which loved and raised him. John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his residence. He was 73 - years, 02 - months and 07 - Days of age. He was residing at 3490 Hell for certain Road, Hyden, KY at the time of his passing. In John's formative years after High School, John moved to Taylor, MI where he resided for 21 years. John was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife: Olga Minjares Woods in Detroit, MI on July 08, 1961. He returned to Hyden after his retirement in 1980 where he currently resided. By occupation, John was employed by General Motors Company. John was the owner of the former Woods Guttering. He also owned and operated the former Deno's Restaurant in Hyden, KY for about 4 years along with his wife, Olga. John enjoyed playing cards and most importantly his family and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Charles B. Woods, Pearl "Woody" Woods and Rufus Osborne; 1 sister: Jean Jones. Mr. John Woods leaves the following relatives surviving: His loving and devoted wife: Olga Woods of Hyden, KY; 2 sons: Charles E. "Chuck" Woods of Hyden, KY and William D. Woods of London, KY; 1 daughter: Debbie S. Wells and husband, Joey of Hazard, KY; 3 beloved grandchildren: Jory Wells, Josh Wells and Gabriella Woods; 5 brothers: Scott Woods, William Woods, Harold Jones, Millard Woods, Jr. and Richard Woods; 4 sisters: Daisy Johnson, May Woods, Mary Rose Woods and Ruby Woods; A host of other family and friends survive his passing. Memorial service for Mr. John Woods will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2012 from the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating. Entombment will follow in the Townsend-Woods Cemetery at Hyden, KY. Friends may call for visiting hours from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. - Friday, July 27, 2012 at the funeral home chapel.
