Paul Day, of Smilax, Kentucky, was born September 14, 1937 in Leslie County, a son of the late Monroe and Melinda Lewis Day. He was a life-long resident of Leslie County and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Paul was a member of the Church of Christ at Smilax, Kentucky. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Marie on February 28, 1966. Paul was an avid UK basketball fan. He had many hobbies he enjoyed; some of which were gardening, hunting, fishing, woodwork, attending church, and feeding birds. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandson, Matthew. Paul departed this walk of life on Friday, July 05, 2019 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center. He was 81 years old.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by four brothers, Arnold, Ernest, Lloyd, and Dexter. Two sisters, Sophia Coots and Bonnie Maggard. One whom he loved as his own son, Daniel Ballard, and a niece whom he loved as a daughter, Martha Roberts.
Paul leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Marie Day of Smilax, KY, a beloved daughter, Tammy Mosley & her husband, Mike, whom he loved as a son, and three daughters whom he loved as his own, Doreena Frasure & husband, Tim of Hyden, KY, Melissa Hearon of Alabama, and Cora Curtis & husband, Ricky of South Carolina. Other survivors include, three sisters, Myrtle Fouts of Smilax, KY, Lois Ann Hensley of Smilax, KY, and Lillian Joseph of Trenton, OH. His cherished grandchildren, Matthew Mosley, Steven Frasure, Tabitha DeLeon, Devonnea Eoff, Brandi Curtis, Robbie Hearon, Sarah Hearon, Jonathan Roberts, and Kevin Roberts. Great-grandchildren, Isabella DeLeon, Abigail Eoff, Andrew Eoff, and Gabriella DeLeon, His best friend, Dwight Fowler & wife, Alleen. Along with a host of family and friends, whom Paul dearly loved.
