Paul Jones was born in Hyden, Kentucky on September 21, 1948. He was a son of the late Willie and Lucy Osborne Jones. Paul was united in marriage to Anna Carol Couch on April 28, 1970 at Hyden, Kentucky. Paul was of the Methodist faith and was a devoted member of the Thousandsticks United Methodist Church at Thousandsticks, KY. Paul was a founding member of the Thousandsticks Volunteer Fire Department at Thousandsticks, Kentucky. He worked tirelessly at the department to make sure that all equipment was in working order. He volunteered every year at the Osborne Brothers Blue Grass Festival in Hyden. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. Paul was humble, soft spoken and kind. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Paul was known by many for his knowledge of small engine repair on lawn & gardening equipment. Paul was a devout Christian and read his Bible every night. He enjoyed watching westerns and watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He was also an avid hunter. Above all, Paul cherished his family and the time spent with them. Paul departed this life on Saturday, November 28, 2020. He was 72 years old.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Felix Jones, Kermit Jones and Roy Jones.
Paul leaves behind, his loving & devoted wife of 50 years, Anna Carol Jones of Thousandsticks, KY; one daughter, Gracie Zollinger & husband, Jeff of Floyd Knobs, IN; a son they never had, Kevin Cook of Hyden, KY; two brothers, Sherman Jones & wife, Sally Faye of Somerset, KY and Kenneth Ray Jones of Thousandsticks, KY; five sisters, Molly Holland & husband, Homer of London, KY, Bessie Collins & husband, Robert, Clara Chandler & husband, Abner, Jr., Brenda Jones, all of Thousandsticks, KY and Christine Gregory & husband, James of London, KY; one cherished grandson, Jacob Paul Zollinger; a brother-in-law who stopped in to visit with Paul daily, Paul Couch (wife, Faye & family) of Thousandsticks, KY; sister-in-law who has been with the family since Paul's passing, Sylvia Napier (& husband, Otis & family). A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive his passing.
A private funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Robert Amundson and Roger Wolfe officiating. There will be words of comfort and memories shared by John Newell, Shelly Roberts Baker and Patrick Kevin Cook. Interment will follow the services at the Jones – Sizemore Cemetery at Thousandsticks. There will be a private walk – through from 5-8 p.m. – Wednesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Thousansticks Fire Department 149 Thousansticks Road, Hyden, Kentucky 41749
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
In accordance to Kentucky mandate, all services will be private.
