Pearl Baker Lewis

Ms. Pearl Hensley Baker Lewis of Hyden, KY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Harlan, KY. She was 92 years, 07 months and 18 days of age. Pearl was born June 14, 1919 at Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Delmon Hensley and the late Nettie Bowling Hensley. She was a life long resident of Leslie County and was residing at 296 J.H. Lewis Drive, Hyden, KY at the time of her passing. By occupation, Pearl was a home health worker, employed by the health department. Pearl was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church - Wooton, KY. Pearl enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching the humming birds, going to church, sewing and was an avid reader. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband and father of her children: Chester Baker; husband: Arthur Lewis; two brothers: John C. Hensley and Leonard Hensley; One sister: June Melton and one son-in-law: Joe H. Lewis.Ms. Pearl Lewis leaves the following relatives surviving. One son: Johnny Clinton Baker and wife, Net of Hyden, KY; Two step-sons: Hobart Lewis and wife, Hope and Roy Lewis, both of Tennessee; Two daughters: Jessie Rose Lewis of Hyden, KY and Mary Joyce Murray and husband, Charles of Bristol, VA. One step-daughter: Elisa Lewis of Tennessee; One brother: Rex Hensley and wife, Ruth of Wooton, KY; Four sisters: Bertie Sullivan of Bristol, VA, Blanche Lewis of Hyden, KY, Geraldine Miniard of Washburn, TN and Lily Oliver and husband, Earl of Hazard, KY. Special Friends: Mary Mosley, Jean Campbell and Lonnie and Lisa Fee. Seven grandchildren: Billy Dale Asher, Chuck Murray, Donna Morgan, Robin Murray, Connie Baker, John Lewis and Jonie Baker; Two step-grandchildren: Greg and Hunter Lewis; Eight great grandchildren: Tessa Gross, Steven Murray, Tiffany Adams, Steven Davidson, Zack Goodwin, Jonathon Morgan, Chester Morgan and Courtney Paige Baker; Four great-great grandchildren: Nevaeh Lewis, Hallie Harris, Noah Adams and Caden Shepherd; A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
