Roger Douglas of Hyden, Kentucky was born December 20, 1952 in Dayton, OH to the union of the late Herbert C. Douglas and the late Marcia Newman Douglas. Roger was a graduate of the Fairmont – East High School in Kettering, Ohio. There, he set multiple athletic records in track, field and cross country. Upon graduating, he furthered his education at Cumberland College where he attended on an athletic scholarship. While there, in addition to breaking many records in track, field, and cross country, he met the love of his life, and partner for life, Deanna Hoskins Douglas. Roger was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing as a hobby. Roger followed in the footsteps of his father, Herbert whom owned a landscaping business. He loved working outdoors, yardwork and landscaping. Roger died Tuesday, April 09, 2019 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. He was 66 years old.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jim” Douglas.
Roger leaves behind, his beloved wife, Deanna Hoskins Douglas of Hyden, KY, two cherished children, Gary D. Douglas (Terry) of Hoskinston, KY, and Katie Anne Bowling (A.J.) of AR, one brother, Gary Lee Douglas (Chris) of Portland, OR, and a sister, Donna Gail Peacock (Mike) of OH, one grandchild, Cason J. Bowling. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
