Ronald Scott Coots

Ronald Scottie Coots, age 60 of Wendover Road, Hyden, KY, departed this life on Thursday, August 06, 2015 at the Hazard A.R.H. Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1954 in Hyden, KY to the union of Mable Ruth Miniard Coots and the late Clarence "Red" Coots. Scottie was a life-long resident of Leslie County and was affiliated with the Cutshin Bible Church. Scottie enjoyed fishing, riding four-wheelers, ginseng hunting and spending time in the mountains. He like to spend time at Couch's Shell Mart and The Eagle Express Car Wash, meeting and talking to people. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence "Red" Coots; paternal grandparents: Levi & Octavia Coots; maternal grandparents: Bill & Mary Miniard; one brother: Clarence "Little Red" Coots, Jr.; nephews: James Joe Estep, Jr. and Jordyan Michole Johnson; special friend & companion: Della Caldwell.

Left behind to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Mable Ruth Coots of Smilax, KY; three sisters: Octavia Johnson (Everette) of Cumberland, KY, Alma Jean Cornett (Lowell) of Smilax, KY, and Pat Estep (Bill Kilburn) of East Bernstadt, KY; nephews, Everette Johnson, Jr., Tim Coots, Brian Coots, Wayne Coots and Brandon Estep. niece, Tammy Shepherd; special niece, Missy Day; special friends: Jerome, Keith, Alice and Mary; his dog: Brownie; A host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, August 09, 2015 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Levi Coots Cemetery at Smilax, KY. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., Saturday evening at the funeral home.
