Roy Howard of Hyden, Kentucky was born February 08, 1940 in Hyden, KY. He was born to the union of the late Manuel and Mary Morgan Howard. Roy was united in marriage to Jackie Keen on April 09, 1962 at Stinnett, KY. Roy served as magistrate for the Leslie County Fiscal Court for 12 years and by occupation was a barber with more than 42 years of experience. Roy also ran and operated Roy's Odds & Ins, an auction house that was popular in town from 1988 until 2000. Roy was a people person and enjoyed bringing a smile to people’s face. He enjoyed traveling along with his wife, Jackie. He especially enjoyed going to the beach. Above all, Roy enjoyed sitting in town with his friends in front of the courthouse. Roy was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Hyden Baptist Church as well a member of the Hyden Masonic Lodge.
Roy departed this life on March 28, 2021 at the age of 81.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Tolman Howard and two sisters, Alma Farmer and Ann Howard.
Roy leaves behind his loving & devoted wife, Jackie Howard of Hyden, KY; one son, Roy Gregory Howard & Casandra of Houston, TX; one brother, Ralph Howard & Mary of Stinnett, KY and one sister, Ruth Caldwell of Harlan County. Two cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Austin Wilson. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. - Friday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe & Rev. Geoffrey Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Howard - Leddington Cemetery at Stinnett, KY. The family will receive friends from 6-9p.m. - Thursday at the funeral home chapel. Masonic Rites will be held by the Hyden Masonic Lodge at 7:00 oclock .
