Shirley (Wells) Fields

Shirley Fields was born at Smilax, Kentucky on August 13, 1944.  She was born to the union of the late Dewey and Stella Wells.  Shirley was united in marriage to Matt Fields on November 11, 1964.  She was a Leslie County native and was a homemaker.  She was a steadfast in her faith and was a devout Christian.  She was a long-time devoted member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax.  Shirley loved the lord and let her light shine; this was evident in the life she lived.  She led each of her children to the Lord, in that, she had comfort.  She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and the time spent with them.  Shirley was a talented singer and guitar player.  She loved to attend church and praise the Lord with her talents.  Shirley was a loving a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She departed this walk of life on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.  She was 76 years old.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matt Fields, brothers, Willis, Leo and Harrison Wells, sisters, Oma Wells, Vina Day, Ona Day and Susie Day.

Shirley leaves behind, two beloved sons, Tommy Fields & wife, Jennifer of Yeaddiss, KY and Michael Fields & wife, Donna of Wooton, KY, two beloved daughters, Sandra C. Fields of Wooton, KY and Loretta Raleigh & husband, Jonathan of Jackson, KY.  Other survivors include, one brother, Eldon Wells & wife, Lois of Smilax, KY and one sister, Sallie Wells of Smilax, KY; four cherished grandchildren, four cherished great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

The funeral service for Shirley Fields will be held at 1:00 P.M. – Friday, January 01, 2021 at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dewey Wells Cemetery at Smilax, Kentucky.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M. – Friday at the church.
