Steven Craig Gilbert

Steven Craig Gilbert, age 48 of Slusher Drive, Hyden, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Ky. He was the son of Virginia Gilbert of Vanceburg, Kentucky and the late Floyd Arnold Gilbert. By occupation, Steven was a coal miner. He enjoyed cars, music, movies, four-wheeling, and fishing. Steven was a hard worker and with his kind nature, he never met a stranger. Other than his father, Steven is preceded in death by grandchild: Lesleah Jo Caseman; brother: Rickey Allen Gilbert and sister-in-law: Rita Gilbert.

Steven is survived by his mother, Virginia Gilbert of Vanceburg, Ky.; one son: Brandon Gilbert of Vanceburg, Ky.; step-son: Michael Northern, London, Ky.; two daughters: Ashley Caseman of Dayton, Oh., and Francesca Conrad (Dylan) of Hyden, Ky.; two step-daughters: Angel, and Nakita Northern of London, Ky.; two brothers: Hershel Gilbert of Vanceburg, Ky., and Darrell Gilbert of Flatwoods, Ky.; one sister: Sharon K. Corns of Vanceburg, Ky.; two beloved grandchildren: Payton Rylee Caseman of Dayton, Oh., and Kaylie Paige Caseman of Garrison, Ky.; special friends: Mellissa Slusher Asher of Hyden, Ky., and Jamie McDaniel of Wheelersburg, Oh.; Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 29, 2015 in the chapel of the Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Teddy Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the Slusher Cemetery, Hyden, Kentucky. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Thursday until 9 P.M.
