Sylvania Birchfield

Sylvania Birchfield age 84 of Bear Branch, Kentucky passed away at her residence on Sunday July 12, 2020.  Sylvania was born on August 20, 1935 to the union of John Henry and Dorthy Pennington. She was the widow of Johnny Birchfield. By trade, Sylvania was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Sylvania is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Birchfield and great granddaughter, Skyler Gross.

Sylvania leaves behind four sons, Larry Pennington of Wooton, KY, Roger Gross and Edna of Yeaddiss, KY, Russell Gross and Elizabeth of Yeaddiss, KY, John Henry Birchfield and Sheila of Big Creek, KY, one daughter, Sharon Woods and William of Bear Branch, KY, special friend, Mabel “Skip” Spell and two special caregivers, Teresa Callahan and Katie Feltner. Sylvania also leaves behind 14 Grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 2:00 PM at the Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Tracy Mitchell and Joe Crockett officiating. Visitation begins at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at the Estep Cemetery in Beverly, KY.

Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home have been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
