Taylor Pete Shell, of Owls Nest Road, Hyden, Kentucky, departed this life Friday, April 29, 2016, aged 80 years. Born August 23, 1935, the son the late Albert Shell and Georgia Morgan. He was a life-long resident of Leslie County. A former strip miner and owner and operator of Shell Trucking. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Taylor enjoyed hunting and fishing. Other than his parents, Pete was preceded by his step mother, Faye Jones Shell, two brothers, Jim Roberts and Truman Smith.
Survivors include, two sons, Ricky Pete Shell (Mary) of Hoskinston, KY, Gary Smith (Lori), Chattanooga, TN, two daughters, Linda Schmaedecke (Walter) of Berea, KY, Kimberly Thomas (Glenn) of Oak Ridge, TN, special friend and companion, Joan Lewis of Hyden, KY, three half brothers, Larry Shell (Linda) of Hyden, KY, and Gary Shell (Ruth Ann) of Hoskinston, KY, Bob Shell of Hoskinston, KY, two half sisters, Leta Bailey (Bill) of Hoskinston, KY, and Donna Clark (Rod) of London, KY and two beloved grandchildren, Blake and Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, May 01, 2016 at Stinnett Church of Christ with Keith Bowling and Eddie Boone Pace officiating. Interment will take place at the Morgan Cemetery at Hoskinston, KY. The family will receive friends for visiting hours after 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Military rites will be performed by the Leslie County D.A.V. following the services at the church on Sunday.
