Tinsley David Maggard, of Hyden, KY went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2024, in Breathitt County, KY at the age of 62 He was born on February 16, 1961, in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Bige Maggard and the late Betty Jean Caldwell Maggard Masters. Tinsley lived a fulfilling life and will be remembered for his numerous achievements and wonderful personality.
Tinsley began his career in the coal mining industry, working for reputable companies such as Leeco, Teco, and Alpha Natural Resources. Throughout his years underground, he displayed dedication and commitment to his work. His hard work and contributions made a significant impact on the industry.
Outside of his career accomplishments, Tinsley had a deep love for animals, particularly German Shepherds. His dogs were not only companions but cherished members of his family. Tinsley's love and care towards them were truly remarkable.
Education played an important role in Tinsley's life. He obtained an associate's degree from Hazard Community College. This academic achievement showcased his commitment to personal growth and development.
Tinsley's charming personality was characterized by loyalty and an adventurous spirit. He was known as an avid outdoorsman who found solace in nature. Whether it was working outside on his tractor or enjoying time weed eating in the yard, Tinsley appreciated being close to the earth. He also indulged in squirrel hunting and gardening - activities that brought him great joy. He was an animal lover, especially to his treasured German Shepherds.
An ardent supporter of the UK Wildcats sports teams, Tinsley cheered on his favorite university wholeheartedly. His enthusiasm for sports allowed him to engage with others who shared the same passion.
But above all else, Tinsley considered accepting Christ as his Savior and Lord as one of his proudest accomplishments. Being baptized and becoming a cherished member of the Hyden Baptist Church held immense significance to him.
Tinsley leaves behind a loving and devoted wife, Stacy Maggard of Hyden, KY. Together they experienced the highs and lows of life, supporting each other through all circumstances. Tinsley's legacy continues through his three sons: Charles Alexander Huff (Brooke) of London, KY, Micah David Maggard of Hyden, KY, and Cameron Kyle Maggard of Hyden, KY and his he leaves behind one daughter, Ceara Shaelee Maggard (Jordan) of Hyden, KY.
Tinsley is also survived by his two brothers: Timothy Dale Maggard of London, KY and James Jeffrey Maggard (Tina) of Richmond, KY. His half brother James Peyton Bowling of Hyden, KY also mourns his loss. Tinsley was a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, Carson, Carter, Caleigha, Scarlett, Parker, and Adeline who will always treasure the memories they shared. In addition to his immediate family, double first cousins that were like siblings: Rodrick Maggard, Bige Maggard, Jack Maggard II, Michelle Cronin, Kevin Maggard, Kendall Maggard, Patrick Maggard, and James Charles Maggard. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who held a special place in his heart.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday January 14th, 2024.
The Funeral service will be held at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 Jack Short and Roger Wolfe officiating.
Interment will follow in the Maggard Cemetery at Hyden, KY.
